ITAC Permits

An ITAC permit is an official authorization issued by South Africa’s International Trade Administration Commission. 

 This is for import or export of specific goods. This includes items such as used, second-hand, or refurbished products, as well as waste, scrap, and other regulated materials. The permit process ensures that these goods comply with national health, safety, environmental, and technical standards, while also aligning with international trade agreements.

NRCS Registations

NRCS, a South African government agency tasked with safeguarding public health, safety, and environmental integrity. It achieves this by enforcing technical regulations and compulsory specifications across a range of industries, including automotive, electrical, food, and legal metrology. The NRCS ensures that products and services comply with mandatory standards prior to sale or import, thereby promoting fair trade practices and protecting consumer interests. (LOA AND ICASA Permits as examples)

SADC Certificates 

SADC Certificate 

 

 This certificate enables eligible products to benefit from preferential trade terms, such as duty-free or reduced tariff entry, when exported to other member states.

VHC 

A Veterinary Health Certificate (VHC) is an official document endorsed by a licensed veterinarian in the exporting country, certifying that the animal or animal product complies with the specific health and safety standards mandated by the importing country. Prior to issuance, an import permit must be obtained from the importing country’s veterinary authority, which outlines the required VHC format and conditions. The completed certificate includes detailed information on the origin, vaccinations, and inspections of the animal or product and must be presented by the importer at the destination port to help prevent the spread of animal diseases.

Import/Export Code

To obtain an Import/Export Number (also known as a Customs Client Number or CCN) in South Africa, businesses must register with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) by completing the Registration, Licensing, and Accreditation (RLA) process.

Certificate of Origin

A Certificate of Origin (COO) is an essential international trade document that certifies the country in which goods were produced, manufactured, or processed. This certification establishes the product’s “nationality” for customs authorities in the importing country, assisting in the determination of applicable tariffs, enforcement of trade regulations, and qualification for preferential treatment under free trade agreements. Typically issued by a Chamber of Commerce or an authorized entity, the certificate is a mandatory requirement for customs clearance and other import-export procedures.

Phytosanitary Certificate

These certificates are crucial for intertnatiol trade, espesially in agriculture or forestry. They confirm that the goods are free from pests, diseases, and other harmful organisms that could threaten the importing country's agricultural or environmental health

Import Permit

An Import Permit ensures that the goods you intend importing, conform to the safety, quality, environmental and health requirements of the country. They must also comply with the provisions of international agreements. Import Permits also help to control the inflow of goods of a strategic nature or smuggled goods.

They must also comply with the provisions of international agreements. Export Permits also help to control the out going flow of goods of a strategic nature or smuggled goods.
